Opelika vs. Chelsea

Coming off of a heartbreaking loss to 7A team Central-Phenix City one week ago, Opelika looked to bounce back and rebuild team morale against undefeated Region 3 rival Chelsea. After a slow start defensively, the Bulldogs manhandled Chelsea, en route to a 60-14 beating.

Central-Phenix City vs. Opelika

Friday night’s game at Bulldog Stadium in Opelika was a classic duel of high-powered, dynamic offense versus stingy, brick-walling defense. Central’s offense had blasted through opposing defenses in its first five games, averaging 42 points a game. Conversely, Opelika’s defense had smothered and confused opposing offenses in its first four games. The Bulldogs were allowing an average of 9.2 points a game and boasted two shutouts on the season going into Friday’s game. But in the end, it was Central’s highly-touted all-purpose back Traveon Samuel who pulled the Red Devils from the jaws of defeat. The “Cardiac Kids,” as Central coach Jamey Dubose referred to them:

Central-Phenix City vs. Prattville

This was an emotional game Friday night in Prattville. Central head coach Jamey Dubose faced off againstĀ Prattville, a team he coached and won two state titles with between 2008 and 2011. This time, coaching from the opposing sideline.

Carver-Montgomery vs. Northview

Aside from the 13 penalties, Carver-Montgomery played a pretty flawless game. The game was not as close as the score indicates. The Wolverines rolled Friday night.

Auburn vs. Opelika

The cross-town rivalry between Auburn and Opelika came down to the final drive. And Opelika won their first game over Auburn in six years.
