Opelika vs. Chelsea

Coming off of a heartbreaking loss to 7A team Central-Phenix City one week ago, Opelika looked to bounce back and rebuild team morale against undefeated Region 3 rival Chelsea. After a slow start defensively, the Bulldogs manhandled Chelsea, en route to a 60-14 beating.

Central-Phenix City vs. Opelika

Friday night’s game at Bulldog Stadium in Opelika was a classic duel of high-powered, dynamic offense versus stingy, brick-walling defense. Central’s offense had blasted through opposing defenses in its first five games, averaging 42 points a game. Conversely, Opelika’s defense had smothered and confused opposing offenses in its first four games. The Bulldogs were allowing an average of 9.2 points a game and boasted two shutouts on the season going into Friday’s game. But in the end, it was Central’s highly-touted all-purpose back Traveon Samuel who pulled the Red Devils from the jaws of defeat. The “Cardiac Kids,” as Central coach Jamey Dubose referred to them:

Carver-Montgomery vs. Northview

Aside from the 13 penalties, Carver-Montgomery played a pretty flawless game. The game was not as close as the score indicates. The Wolverines rolled Friday night.

Dadeville vs. Reeltown

For a second I felt like a Dadeville beat writer, covering the team two weeks in a row. This time, though, they were bested at home in an upset.

Dadeville vs. Piedmont

This was my first game at the famed Cramton Bowl and the game itself did not disappoint, either.
